If you do just the sunfish, he'll be more than enough to make that tank awesome! Once he gets bigger, you can upgrade him, but as a baby and a growout, your mom will probably fall in love with him. Get rid of the heater and feed lightly, and normal weekly maintenance will be plenty.

You won't need any catfish or other bottom fish with the green. They are constantly picking around for food.

i agree with this, plus if you put neons and otos with the baby green they will eventually become food for the green

True. And the green sunfish have huge mouths. At two inches, they can eat one inch fish with no problem at all. But ottos are kind of pokey, might choke him.

cories n tetras

Stay away from goldfish. They are the messiest fish I've ever had. I think and Angel and tetras would be easy. I have a couple little sharks in my community tank and they clean off the ornaments in the tank.

ok this is my plan. baby fish: 1-2 green sunfish, 3 bluegill, 5 emerald shiners, 1 chubsucker about 3 inches long if possible. fake plants mainly in the back, moss ball floating along the bottom.

If I were you, I wont keep bluegills but just focus on green sunfish and shiners (but the shiners will eventually eaten by the green sunfish). Not sure about chubsucker...what species?

i dont know the species of the chubsuckers, they are sold as bait up at the scheels near my house. the shiners will be fine for at least the first year or so, they will be about 3-4 inches and the green sunfish will be about 2, hopefully. but could i put 2 green sunfish with the shiners and chubsucker? ill get a pic of the chubsuckers sometime.
