Easiest way to breeding Shrimp?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Can't remember exactly how to tell female from male, but its something to do with the ridge on their back or something...

As for the eggs, i think its about 2 weeks roughly before they drop their babies...

I just got some 5 crystal red shrimp and it looks like one already has eggs!! how long does it take to hatch? and how do you tell male and female?

The female shrimps will be have deeper bodies (abdomen) than the males who are much slender. Keep the temperature between 72F-76F and do 30% water changes weekly; I have successfully bred dwarf shrimp using these parameters. The shrimplets should hatch within 30 days. Feed them blanched peas/veg and finely crushed flake foods/algae wafers and just generally keep their environment clean. Goodluck.

The easiest amd fastest is probably get 3 50 gallon Rubbermaid tubs and buy 100 shrimp. Wait a year and then sell. You should have like 5000 by then although I'm no shrimp expert.

i had 2 successful batched of ghost shrimp breed in my 5 gallon then they became food lol. now i have my cherry's in there.

I've bred ghosts by accident in a 30 gallon planted with 3 gold spilos.

It was heavily planted, and rocks stacked on one side.

Ghosts were meant as feeder, but half inch ghosts were seen for years. Not sure what they survived on, only flakes shrimp and beefheart went in that tank.
