Nice! That looks bigger than a 30gal!

:ROFL:thats all by design...... i'm hoping i can get some retix and arrows to think its bigger too:ROFL::ROFL::headbang2 thanks though. not bad for diy lighting eh?

A little update..... I took a 1/8 inch drill bit and drilled about 30 holes by each bulb in the back and on the sides of the strip to help in venting. this has worked wonders in cooling the strip light plastic, and no fan is needed. It really wasn't that bad, but over time i'm sure it could've damaged the plastic.

Yeah I have the 6500K lights I am thinking the same ones you have there 100 watt equiv? So yeah I use them on my 70 gallon tank I don't have a hood now but have one of them in a clamp light from home depot

really lights it up haha would have 2 clamps but I don't plan on doing it like this too long going to build a stand and make my own hood with a couple T5HO considering the most expensive part is usually the hood I should save a bunch of money doing so but I myself will use some Mylar. ;)

Another little DIY for a light like this- I got a fixture free with a burnt out ballast. I pulled all the white plastic out & bought an under cabinet light from Wal-Mart for $7. I put it in there and now you can't tell the difference from the outside (except for a white cord instead of black, but you could always just splice the light into the black cord that comes with the fixture) but the light is WAY brighter.
