yeah livebearer is easy to breed, i like black molly, chose long tail (male) n short tail with fatty bellied (female) plus give little live plant like cabomba or fake plant ok.
Personally if it was me i would make it a temporary jewel cichlid breeding tank. But know they will outgrow it eventually.
Breed convicts. They'll outgrow the 10 gallon in a year or so, but just get new convicts when that happens. Here's my 10 gal con breeder tank. There's plenty of room for mom dad and hundreds of fry.

They are very pretty and very interesting to watch there breeding behavior.Just make sure you have lots of fish to feed these to they not called aquarium rats for nothing.I used to feed some of the fry to my betta he was so cool to watch hunt.Wow convicts seem super cool. I will look into breeding them

kribs, and apistogramma are options for cichlids... pair of malawiis lots of small cichlids that'll do ok with good filtraion. imo if a foot long oscar is ok in a 100 then a 5inch and 4inch con prob twenty times lighter combined will be fine.
