Cyprichromis are great easy breeders, and can't see any way they would mess up plants like typical cichlids. Spawn mid water and don't eat their young. Tada

I defo think u should try a loach breeding project. u could hook up a couple of pumps to stimulate rain. it would be a very interesting project, I bet more fish would breed like this, maybe even my beautiful glass cats.

Convicts are effortless
