Just looking for some input on what would be an easy feeder fish to keep and breed easily for the purpose of feeding my aro quality feeders not that lfs crap. Thanks for any suggestions!

oh and chef, do you know about feeding raw market shrimp?
i feed mine shrimp and live fish i catch.

Who feeds their fish feeders only? Feeders are part of a, healthy, balanced, nutritious diet....You could grow some, catch some, and buy some. No one said it was possible to feed a million fish with 4 pairs of breeders. Learning to breed easy fish leads to bigger better spawns, and bigger better feeders....To each their own...:)

my aro tank always has feeders.
and he will do what he wants, all i was saying is its not worth it for the reasons i said. ;)

Have to agree with you there. I am buying MW, SW, Feeder Fish from the LFS and with 7 arows to feed and getting hungier by the day it sure makes a dent in the pocket lol!. Will really have to copy the umbrella net of your's soon midnight.

And not to memtion the other Kois, Pacu, Barbs, catfishes yeow it's a lot of feeds.

Growing your own feeder fish takes lots of patience. Growing your own bugs take even more patience. believe me i have tried both. easier to just buy from the lfs.

BUT!! if you want to try you hand at doing it give it a go, Why not?. Who knows you may have the fish hands for that. LOL again. Good luck breeding them.

And as they like to say "May each month bring a bountiful hatching".

Cheers

Why not breed nightcrawlers, or mealworms, or crickets?

Ok, I don't just feed my 6" aro feeders... guys. He gets a more varied diet than I do! The breeder/feeder tank idea would just be another tank with some cool little fish that I will occaionally throw a few to my aro. BUT.... that being said... Why I did not consider using a minnow trap in a local pond (allowed where I am) and constantly stock a 20g or something similar with those. Fatten em up and pop them to my baby monster. Thanks to EVERYONE for your input and suggestions, they ALL were good ideas.
