I have a 45 tall, with only the standard striplight. It's 24" (20W). The only decor in the tank is a crumpled 5-foot fake human skeleton I got from a medical supply shop. It;s been in there for about a year, and is covered with algae and junk. I would like to find a nice green plant that can take hold and grow over the skeleton.

Is this possible? If so, recommend a plant, as well as a 24" fluorescent bulb which would support it.

Thanks!

get a 6000k bulb and some anacaris, cobomba, and java ferns....all are easy to grow and look pretty good:)

Well, I went to the LFS yeaterday and got THIS bulb, along with a couple of java ferns an a small clump of java moss. I'm not sure I'm happy with the light, though. The tank now looks VERY YELLOW. Do I have to live with this drastic color cast to keep these java thingies alive??

If you get a 10,000k bulb it will look more blue but you may get a lot of algae growth. Java ferns are really easy to take care of so you can switch the bulb if you want to.

plants you could use java fern, java moss and my favorite anubians, these plants are easy to maintain need only a minimal lights

Java ferns and related species work well, as does java moss, anubians, and some types of swords.

Ok, you have to post a picture of this tank. The 5-foot skeleton is just too much!
Here's a couple of quick snapshots. My pathetic little java fernies.....hope they take off!!
