I would never spend ten times as much money on a siphon with a pump. You can have the same effect with no plugs or batteries and for the whopping price of $2.00 at any hardware store.
You haven't used python units or gravel washers. Both of which cannot be matched by any hardware store.Fish Eat Fish;1920304;1920304 said:I would never spend ten times as much money on a siphon with a pump. Which are called gravel washers. They cannot be matched by anything in a hardware store. These units can prolong time between water changes by a long shot, if you use them frequently.Fish Eat Fish;1921113;1921113 said:Im reffering to the electric gravel unit. Pythons etc are another issue

I run the siphon hose out the window upstairs or to my floor drain in my basement. Then I attach a t Valve from python to a shower head or sink, get the temp right, put a squirt of amquel into the tank and close the T so that the water runs through the hose.
The last time I did this I took out 6 gallons from my fry tank with month old fry in there and shot straight tap water in with a squirt of amquel ahead of time. Didn't lose a single fry
