Everyday I read multiple "help getting fish on pellets" threads, A lot of fish do not like or prefer pellets so here's a simple solution that a few of us use, just thought id share!

My fish love shrimp the most, but almost any white fish will work, but shrimp is much more elastic in texture then fillets, so its a lot easier to use.

Just poke a hole a little smaller then the size of the pellet with a nail or drill bit, then just cram in the pellets! I use 6mm sinking NLS, but any pellet works!

You can see the dark red line of about 6-8 pellets in each shrimp:

A great and easy way to make sure that your fish get the proper nutrition to become true /\/\ONSTER FISH!

Yes, that's a very good idea. I do it with smelts, but same thing. I want to add a trick that has worked for me. I've never had a fish that didn't like bloodworms, so I use them to trick some of my fish to eat other things. Example : I used to have a fire Eel (he died from an bacterial infection after a big fight with a bigger tire track Eel )that ate nothing but bloodworms. Refused everything, even earthworms and blackworms. I bought both tt and fire eels at about the same time, but on a shrimp diet, the tt eel grew 3x bigger. I tried getting the fire eel off bloodworms, but couldn't. I have a friend that suggested I try soaking chopped up market shrimp with the bloodworms and it worked. I even got the fire eel to eat massivore this way. His growth shot up immediately. Though when the fire eel hit a certain size, he and the tt started beefing out often. I should have separated them damn it. I'm still kicking myself in the @$$ for that one. Anyway, I use Hikari Frozen Bloodworms, which has a strong smell when thawed out so it worked.

Smelt is great too! Thx for the added tips and advice!

:)

A friend was ("Henward" on here) doing that with his red and rtg, and I tried it with the 13" dat I had that wouldn't eat pellets, but it soon learned to chew the shrimp a bit and spit out the massivore I had slipped in there! Maybe smaller pellets would have worked better...

Haha wow thats a spoiled fish! I only feed my fish once a week, so they eat it all without second guessing, but only cuz their adults!

Tip if you have to trick yoy fish into eating pellets you might b over feeding, if there hungry thell eat wherever fit in there mouth

Not exactly, some fish are very picky, especially newly bought fish that have been fed/raised for sale have had a diet that fattens them up, sometimes its near impossible to get them on pellets, flakes or fillets!

The point of this is if you feed good foods you don't have to feed a lot! Like I said above^^ I only feed once a week :)

agree with F1vet, some fish just don't accept pellets as food. The dat I mentioned before just wouldn't take pellets regardless, even after not being fed for two weeks over xmas....

I often collect my fish and they're the most stubborn taking pellets, my Jag was fed live minnows for over a year before I could get him to take anything, massivore was the first pellet he took to. And I've never been able to get my pbass of live.

ive had fish that done take pellets when i swapped from one brand to another and etc, and they ouldnt take em no matter what i tried... so i let em wait it out... some fish can go weeks without having to eat and are ok, once they are hungry enough they will eat what ya feed em or your tankmates if there small enough ;) lol
