Easy way to lower nitrates.

i wish i could setup my tank like that but i'd have fish committing suicide all day.

I have the same worry with my polys, but so far nothing has gotten out..I leave the water level a little lower, and there's a rim on the inside of the tank that sticks out about 2 inches that is on the entire inside of the tank, I think it is sufficient to keep them inside.

I know, but I've been running lidless for a long time and no problems, of course I know I'm taking a risk and any day I could wake up to a dried up poly, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

Leaves out of the water correct? If so, then no clue, maybe try to get some sunlight on the plants? Or maybe some type of chemical in the tank is killing them?

Nitrates down to 5 ppm today, who knew a few plants could do so much.

Have you tried egg crates? My nitrate level in my 300 with around sixty 3-6 inch fish.

Nice setup ecoli, looks like a bamboo farm. What would be cool is if you made another enclosure on top of the fish take, say, a dart frog habitat and then have all sorts of tropical plants sucking water from the tank below..

Mostly fake, the small bunch of plants in the middle to the right are real but just some random plants like anubis
