Really? And you don't know that this stuff works or not. You gave your opinion I gave mine, do you really want to trash this thread? If you don't have any other info to add then STFU.

If the OP is will ing to give this a try, then why does it matter to you?
Wow, why so defensive? Anyway the problem is that there is no guarantee that chems. will work, but waterchanges are guaranteed to work. And this is a public forum, if I feel the need to stfu, I will, I don't need you to tell me to.

Amen! :nilly::headbang2:nilly:

Water changes aren't guarantee to work. There are plenty of people on here that have to go with alternative methods because their water supply is so high in nitrates. Again your telling this guy not to use something when you have know idea whether it works or not. have you even done the slightest bit of research on this product? c

No I haven't researched it, but I think if there was some magical chemical that completely eliminated the need for water changes, we'd all know about it by now. And I don't see how water changes could possibly not work. Again, I have no idea why you are getting so angry and defensive, as far as I know I really haven't said anything that could be taken as being that offensive at all. But if I did then sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone, I'm just saying that it is safer to just go with the guaranteed method of removing nitrates rather than relying on a chemical that may or may not work.

Not magic, science. I'm sure there were skeptics such as your self when products like Prime, Stability, purigen among others came out. Who has said anything about eliminating WCs:duh: You do know there are other reasos for doing water changes besides nitrates? I'm sure your the type who lets his water sit out for 48 hours, so that ya don't have to use a chemical to dechlorinate it, right?

back when I worked at the LFS, we had many customers try it when it first came out (granted, it is probably an updated formula now) and all had problems.

they stopped water changing their fish, starting using the stuff (since it used to say on the bottle you don't have to water change your tank for up to 6 months:screwy: when using it..), and most came in with dead fish/bad water all the time.

we never pushed it at the store. it was available, but we never recommended it.

still, customers would try it anyway. this was back in the early 2000's.

I have never used it myself.

as far as higher nitrates in tap water to begin with, if that is a problem in your area, your best bet for that is to use a "nitrazorb" type filter media in your canister/HOB, recharge perodically and go from there.

sometimes in my area we have people on well water where the nitrates were 20mg/L to begin with, this method with the nitrazorb (a seachem product if I recall) worked well for them. also make sure to use a good water conditioner as well water can sometimes have trace amounts of heavy metals in it that a good water conditioner will render harmless to the fish.

my two cents.

You are making too many assumptions, and to be honest, I really don't feel like dealing with them right now, so I'm done posting in this thread, and I think we have already derailed it enough anyway. (and you said I was the one trashing this thread...)

No,I asked you if you wanted to trash the tread. Which you obviously decided it was something you wanted to do, since you continue to post. Next time you want to leave a smart ass remark regarding one of my replies, I won't quite be so nice.

You have quickly forgotten the discussion we had regarding the fact that nitraban has only been recently added to easybalance? So why does it matter what the customers did 10 years ago? At one time I'm sure people question whether or not nitrazorb worked or not.

Okay, I said I wasn't going to post in this thread again, but you have provoked it. You are the one who started leaving inappropriate and derailing remarks, so you can't blame me for the derailing this thread. Also, you are really one to talk about other people being smart asses, I have only been a member here for about a year and I've already learned more than enough about your reputation as a disrespectfull smart ass, so don't even try to pull that bs with me. I have no idea how you have managed to avoid getting banned with all the innapropriate and irrelevant posts I have seen by you.
