Could always put the airstone under the intake :what:

Blue pads here and no micro bubbles. Only bubbles I get are from my air stones.

Nah, then I'd just be getting more of an air build up in the lines. It would probably have to purge more often.

Love my FX5's. Wish I would have switched to one sooner.

the blue pads suck be prepared to clean them out a lot. i thought my fx5 stopped working one day because of those, no flow at all.

bah crap. I mean I clean my filter monthly, I think I will run them for two weeks then just go spong and biomax in the middle only.

All 6 of my FX5'S run prefilter on top and Bio-max in the middle tray and bottom tray and on the bottom tray on top of the Bio-max one blue filter pad. Works great and clean the filter every 6 months give or take! Yes I did say 6 fx5 :)

I think if you use one Blue Pad at a time, it shouldn't clog as fast. I use the Blue Pads and put all 3 in one tray. Works great for the first 3 months and then once it starts to clog, it starts clogging every 2-3 weeks. I would move one pad per tray, but it still didn't help. I ended up removing 2 of the 3 Pads and it's working fine now...it's been a month so far.

Where is your intake an out take placement ? I have the intake on the left corner of my tank and outtake on the right side... Would it work better with both on one side? Or the intake in the middle ? I mean it is RIGHT in the corner and there is alot of food scraps floating around. doesnt seem to get them.

I would recommend getting a power head to help put the water around. I like to put the intake and out on different sides of the tank. Intake near bottom middle and not right in the corner as water will bounce off the wall and most will not go time the direct corner too well.

ya i always wondered which way the fx5 flows.... i have mine setup with blue bio balls in the bottom basket, then the middle basket has ehiem substrate media, top basket (from bottom to top of the top basket) fine filter pad, then 2 bags of charcoal, and fine filter pad, and coarse filter pad... not sure if it right but it seems to work pretty good on 130g

Im going to move my intake a foot into the middle from the left side, because right in the corner doesnt seem to do so well. I definitly can see how the current kinda doesnt reach it.
