I guess you can be extra careful and buy a few more non-feeder fish to train your fish. this will cost you significantly more... easier to flush gold fish down the toilets that fish you spent much $$ for.
Figuratively, they are.shinigami;4354927; said:You guys make the gold fish sound like cursed poison... stay away from the GF by all means. LFS feed GFs all the time... and guess who buy from the LFS? Fish hobbyists!
Giving the wrong suggestions are what exactly cause troubles and stress.I am just trying to make things easier for this new hobbyist - fish keeping should be enjoyable not to be ridden with troubles/stress... I could be wrong here but this is my opinion.

And to the guy saying goldfish are okay: To me it sounds like you treat fish like items and not animals. You are saying that just because a fish is cheap it is worthless, they are not worthless. Who cares if the tank mate being added would be more expensive? IMO a fish up to about $30 is still a cheap fish for me, but I don't treat it like a $30 dollar bill, I treat it like a living creature, which is how all animals should be treated, no matter how little or how much they cost.
