Okay, this might sound saddistic but has anyone ever eaten a tank raised fish?

I never would but years ago I had a RTC that got too big for a 125 and we ended up giving it to a LFS. After we got home I thought told my buddy, "we shoulda eaten Howard!!" (he was named after Howard Stern) (the RTC, not my buddy):headbang2

I kinda said it as a joke but then I thought about all the clean water he lived in, good fresh feeders for food, no harsh currents to swim in, and he was FAT! I started to think it might have been pretty good meat.

So now I have three Peacock Bass, and I emailed pics to all my family and friend (most of which who fish and eat what they catch) and a bunch of them replied, "Are you gonna eat 'em?"

I won't but, has anyone?:screwy:

I hear its a great food fish. You probably had a shonky pacu and or cooked it wrong.

There is a member on this forum that ate his 2 pacu that lived in his 300G rubbermaid. I dont know his username.

That guy was probably me... they were 20~24 inches long and outgrew everything I could offer them... so we ate them...

I'm glad my parents didn't think that way when I started becoming a problem :S

I've never done that and don't have any intentions to! But just curious... would there be any difference in taste if you killed a fish and eat it, or if you eat a fish that died on its own??

I've been told that aquarium raised eatable fish do not taste as good as wild caught/grown fish... If I ever eat a wild caught Pacu I'll let ya know if it was any better ;)
