ebay and fx5's

Hi, I was considering grabbing up an fx5 or two fairly soon and have been told a lot of mfk'ers buy their fx5's off eBay. I was thinking I could do the same. Main reason of course is to save a few pennies, but also the closest lfs that carries it is a 2 hour drive.
Now onto my question, since I have been told a lot of mfkers buy them off eBay I was wondering if anyone had a specific seller they would recommend, or any that could be worth mentioning to stay away from? I would especially like to hear from someone who has bought an fx5 from the seller they are mentioning but all comments are welcome. Thanks everyone!

I paid within an hour of the auction ending and I got a shipping notification 2 hours later. Pretty happy with it. He sells about two a day for 199 + shipping.

I would stay away from pettreatguy. I purchased a "brand new" AC110 from him and it was old pieces and parts put into a AC110 box. The parts were all scratched up too. I sent it back for another brand new one and it was the same deal but this time the lid was cracked and I didn't receive one of the parts. He ended up shipping me the part, but had to wait a few weeks just to get a complete filter. Hope this helps on your decision for your FX5 purchase.
 
I buy and sell on ebay all the time and find it a great place to get stuff. The 2 things you want to pay attention to other then the price of the item is the shipping price and the sellers feedback. I would stay away from anyone with a feedback that was anything lower then about 98-99% positive, there are too many 100%ers out there to mess with people that are just trying to shaft you. I just bought a usd FX5 off ebay and I love it.
 
used is the way to go.. i heard a rumor not too long ago that Hagen didn't like that folks were getting FX5's for rediculously low prices on ebay and set a minimum price for them. i used to be able to find them for as little as $150, now it's tough to find them under $250.

i've purchased from pettreatguy, in fact, one of my FX5s, but it was broken when i pulled it out of the box. they didn't make good on it, HAGEN did. they shipped me the part that was broken absolutely free. Pettreatguy told me that i had to prove that they broke it or that it was broken when i opened the box. Which basically means they were going to wiggle out of any resonsibility any way they could.
 
I bought my Fx5 used off of e-bay. I paid $140 plus $20 for shipping. He included everything....including the DVD and books. He even cleaned it up all fancy. I really expected for that price it would smell... it doesn't.

It was a used unit and the guy only had one.. but it was a pleasure to buy it from him.

I would try and get a used one.

Pettreatguy made me file a claim w/ UPS when the lid was cracked even though the box wasn't even damaged!
 
Wow, ummm so maybe we didn't find a winner right off the bat, good thing I haven't went ahead with the purchase. I definitely always check feedback ratings but really haven't given much thought to buying a used fx5 off eBay, might look at that a little more. Thanks everyone
