EBJD and Angelfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That combo worked for me also, but it was a larger (8") male salvini with a smaller (6") JD.

I have bred salvinis a few times and I can tell you that the females are HUGE b----es despite their size. The males are more powerful, but more laid back. My male was the peaceful ruler of the tank. Whenever fish were fighting he would step in, kick the aggressor's butt, and then go back into his den. After that everything would be cool. He was strong enough to beat up a larger red devil though, so proceed with caution.

There is a guy on AC that put angels in a pretty aggressive tank and it worked out well, actually lowered aggression. If I could remember his username I'd tell you but from his story, yes it can work and can work long term.

A lot depends on the angels. Mine are very pushy, if they were to try and start something with my ebjd the ebjd would destroy the angels in a heartbeat. If the angels keep to themselves the ebjd wouldnt care less about them.

I tried to PM him but his inbox was full, so does anyone have any advice on Keeping these two together? either Angels or Salvinis with an EBJD.

I have not kept the two together, but I was able to keep Angelfish with Oscars. Key is to have the angels existing in the tank before the EBJD, let the angels grow to a good size before adding a small EBJD. Also wouldnt recommend doing this in anything smaller than a 75 gallon.

yes they can growout together I have been doing it for a few months now my ebjd picks at my angels a little but nothing more than the angels do to each other. Just temporarily though my jd is going into a 135 soon. I would not try to house them for life together.
