EBJD and Gold Severums....

I wanted to see what you guys think about the compatibility of these two species. I have four gold severums and two EBJDs in the same 55g tank. They're all still young and I plan on upgrading to larger tank later on after they grow some more..


I'm just curious to see what you guys think about this.

no it will not work four severum can not be in a 55 then need a 125gal.

while small it may work for a while, but as they get bigger, they WILL need a bigger tank

Of course, they'll all be getting a bigger tank. They're all pretty small right now. I'm going to post pics soon. Working on that tonight. I love the feedback!

EBJDs grow slowly relative to other cichlids and I can bet that those severums are going to outgrow your EBJDs. There could be a chance they will try to punk the EBJDs for dominance of the tank, which could lead to unneccessary stress for the EBJDs and problems for you.

Sounds good to me just get a bigger tank eventually once the sevs hit 6" or so

Really? No one fish tries to be the top dog of the tank? Even at feeding?

wow i once had a severum in my 55gal with my EBJD and the severum didn't like the EBJD.

I ran that combo for a long long time. Sevs and ebjd. Whenever I had fights when they were bigger it was always ebjd with ebjd never a mixed species fight. I did it in a bigger tank though..grew them up together in a 55, but moved them out when they got older.
