My female dempsey (4" at the time) spent about 6 months in a 125 with my full grown male Oscar without problems.. He chased her around at first but they became friends after a little while.. My male Oscar is quite aggressive, but so is the female dempsey.. IMO it would depend on the individual fish's personality. Try it out, but have a way to seperate the 2 if need be
i agree

I had my current batch of EBJDs with a red oscar when they were all juvies. They did great but the red o grew alot faster lol. When he got two inches on my largest EBJD I moved him up to my larger tank. There was no aggresion or anything I just wanted to be extra safe because i especially love my EBJDs. Theyre going back together in a 180 when the EBJDs get a couple more inches on them.

The thing you gotta remember with EBJD's though is that they are fairly weak because of their genetics so if a scuffle did end up happening it would get beat up pretty bad

Not entirely true, my EBJD is of good stock and has grown from 4"s (which is about the size 8-10"s fish start slowing down anyway) to about 7-7.5"s and when him and my BGJD male fight, he holds his own. He's actually won a couple of them. The 2 are the exact same size and he's staying with my BG male in the growth department. As long as the EBJD is about the same size, and the tank seems big enough, you shouldn't have any issues.
