EBJD are very sensative and cant handle much stress. Id suggest getting a more hardy fish like oscars or jack dempsey or convicts and once you can keep them alive and healthy for a year or so you can graduate up to more difficult fish to care for. Practice, water tests, and mfk you can keep anything alive. You dont want to get another fish only to have it die and get discouraged from the hobby.

i have no problem with keeping oscars and stuff like that alive. i have had those. even rbp's are easy for me. i only messed up with the pbass cause i onlyfed them feeders. my water and tank setup is perfect

EBJD are tough fish to keep, as previously stated. I just lost mine due to how fast he went from healthy to dead. They are sensitive fish and you have to know exactly what to do incase of an infection or other problem the second you notice it. That is what I have learned from losing one of my favorites. With these fish there is a lot that can go wrong and not a lot of time to react. Take heed to this warning.

id say go for it then. they are sensitive but if you want them that bad do your research and do it.just stay away from constant feeders. its like if you ate fast food every day all day. no nutritional value. they are good as treats. but id suggest breeding your own for that. i would house them with less aggressive fish tho. i was told battle wounds dont heal right and they scar really easy. dont want to mess up those pretty blue colors.

You obviously dont do research. Do a little bit of research instead of trying to have other do it for you.
Start with keeping Geos or severums alive, and then step up from their. EBJD are a notch under discus in difficulty level.

its not that. maybe im not looking hard enough but i dont see advice specifically for ebjd cause even though they are chicids, every one has a differant way to be taken care of

are the electric blue peacocks any easier to take care of. a place my mee has a buch of those and i figured if i cant to the eblj then thats the next best thing

They are omnivours, 75-80 degrees, Ph 7.
Alot of times small ones wont make it. The experience required, which I mentioned, is about spoting problems early, and treatly delicatly as possible. Any stress and their is a good chance of losing them, Experienced fish keeps know how to avoid stress. Rather newer keepers think it cant be that hard, but these fish are prone to problems and the slightest error very well can lead to death.
Sorry I didnt mean to come off as rude. I wish you the best in your endaveors if you decide to get one.
