ebjd & jaguar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that would work, you would/could get a percentage of blues! ebjd x dovii would be cooler though imo, a really blue smaller dovii we could all keep long term!-)

EBJD are not hybrids, so you shouldn't have issues with fertility. I have a male and female convict x Jag hybrid pair (my avatar) and am currently growing out about 30 of their fry. In my case, both the male and female hybrids were fertile and able to breed...so not all male hybrids are sterile either. Any of those mixes you spoke of sound cool. I do like the idea of Dovii x EBJD hybrid crossed back to an EBJD.

so what if you breed them then have one of the offspring mate with a ebjd? then the eb would be more of a strong gene right? but it would still have the jag stripe maybe? hmm sounds like a fun project.. :wall: jk

Yeah it would be fun but you need allot of room and allot of different tank space to raise fry at different sizes. You also don't know which fry have the gene and which don't to breed back to an ebjd. I don't remember back to high school biology but I don't think all fry will carry the gene. So you will have to keep trying until you luck out.

I would love to see someone do it thought I think it would make for an outstanding looking fish.

Large male Ebjd and small female jag maybe but Idk about Ebjd fertility, aren't males typically sterile?

Ebjd males aren't sterile, it's just fry aren't viable from 2 ebjd's. I think the cross could possibly work, your just gonna need a big ebjd male and a really small female jag. But even then the jag might tear up the male ebjd.
