Ebjd male with reg female jd spawning!

This is the second attempt.First spawn 4 months ago was infertile.So I put back up the eggcrate barrier,and well other stuff got in the way so I didnt get around to letting them try again till I took the barrier back down last week.Saw eggs while doing waterchanges in the fishroom yesterday.:woot:
So today Got home from work and...
stayed out of the fishroom.:screwy:
Didnt want to know.As long as I didnt look,like schrodinger's cat they would exist till I opened the box!And hell yea they were still there when I looked!Ok I been around fish long enough to know day old wigglers does not a successful spawn make But damn Im happy about this right now!

And while day old wigglers does not quite constitute a "successful brood".. it does verify a fertile pair!

She seems to have moved the fry to a ceramic vase in the tank.I cant see in it but she is standing guard at the entrance.
 
My waterchanges were interrupted yesterday by watching the parents herd a swarm of fry around!We got swimmers!Im tempted to move the parents but they are doing such a diligent job of tending the fry Ive left them to it.
 
Thats a nice EBJD, I thought he would have changed colour more at that size so thats amazing. I have a baby 1" EBJD at the mo that looks just like it colourwise. Yes those are tetras.. he is tiny.

No Idea what they are worth.male is 4-5" and I got him at 1.5" just over a year ago.
Still have swimming fry today.Was a little worried as I had to go away for the weekend.My wife took care of feeding and as always did great!:headbang2
He is darkened up now in full breeding dress.Im not doing photos as he freaks sometimes when photographed,and I dont want to stress them.As soon as I got juvies growing out Ill get photos of him in full breeding color.
 
So the fry vanished last week.:(
No matter I thought I saw signs of another spawn almost immediatly,and I was right tuesday another batch of eggs.Was hoping they would hold off a few days,as I have to go away for the weekend again this week.Oh well any other pair of cichlids and Id write off the first few spawns without thinking but I want those bgjds dammit!lol
