EBJD Question

Ok i recently bought a 1 inch EBJD he is housed in a 75 gallon tank with two small (2 inch) green terrors and a geophagus jupari. I have heard that alot of the small EBJD (under 2 inches) tend to die due to birth defects or being generally unhealthy is this true or does it tend to be a rumor. I want to be sure I am providing the best care to all of my fish as possible and want to be a responsible keeper.

I will give some specs of my tank in case they are asked. It is a standard 75 gallon tank that is filtered with an FX5 (overkill I know) I am running everything on an old reef computer I had on my salt tank. The temp is 77.5 and never deviates more than about a degree. The Ph is 7.4 with no ammonia, or nitrates. The lights are on based on the sun when it is up over the equator. I am not running any air on the tank right now but may put it back on in the future. other tankmates are a bumble bee cat, a burmese sun cat, a scarlet sternella pleco, a specled pleco, a few corys, and a rubber nose or two I couldnt catch. they are fed a mix of NLS cichlid formula 1mm pellets, flake and ocasional frozen food.

Any input on my setup or stocking is great good or bad but I want to do as much for the fish as I can.

i have had 4 baby ebjds for about a month and when i got them they were only 3/4". they are doing fine and are about 1.5" now. as long as it is fed well and you do your usual water changes you should be fine. Just be careful with those catfish that they dnt make a snack out of that baby ebjd. Goodluck!!
 
the eb genes tend to make them weaker then the regular jd, but i wouldn't say its birth defects.

lol yeah seeing how they are mostly inbred to a point.

As for the catfish the only one I am worried about is the bumble bee the burmese sun cats mouths are a bit on the small side compared to the bumble bee
