This morning when I turned all my aquarium lights on my ebjd was hanging out at the surface of the water which is odd but he was swimming fine then out of no where he started to seize....kind of like how the fish in the video below it (5-8 seconds on the time stamp)...expect it was more violent and faster shaking it would last a second then he would move a bit then do it again then move again...now he is normal, eating hanging out in his normal place....was he just p*ssed I woke him up or what?

Mine shakes once in a while.. like twitching.. I always assumed he was just weird... Since he has been doing it for about 3 months now.

Do you guys/girls use any algae destroter? I had a problem w/ fish siezing then dying for a bit....then I found out it was the chemical I was using to help combat algae. Stopped using it...havent had a problem since.

fish will "vibrate" when they want to breed or impress a female

no algea distroyer in the tank...well I am pretty ure I was the only female...maybe my plans of crossing myself with an ebjd will work! haha

If he seems to be maintaining control of his swim bladder he's probably just wanting to either fight or spawn, and a drama queen.

Though I would try to get a good look at his gills if he starts to look like he's having a hard time breathing, if he's not looking so hot other than tweaking out I'd suspect some kind of external parasites and reccommend treating the tank with a general purpose antiparasitic drug of your choice :)

Vibrating / Twitching is a common way for Cichlids to guard it's territory or intimidate others...

I've had a few of my fish which will try to "intimidate" me...

I don't blame you for being concerned when you saw abnormal behavior... and whithout seeing the fish personally (or on video) I/we cannot know what it was doings...

But the fish in the video appeared to be doing a common territorial/breeding display...

ok yeah I think I startled him too...I kind of tripped and fell towards the tank when I turned the light on...been acting normal ever since.
I freaked out a little haha this is the first cichlid I have owned, everything else I have ever had has never been really territorial.
Thanks for the input!
