Keeping 1in EBJD in a 10g until it reaches 3 in so the Oscar can't eat it in the larger tank.

Will keeping it in a 10g stunt its' growth?

The main cause of stunted growth is poor water quality, others might disagree. But, as long as you do water changes and keep the quality good he should be fine.

x3 . . .

I have found that my EBJD is a slow-grower, however; he has been in a 15G grow-out tank for about six months . . . other fish that I have kept in that same tank, including a Texas and two different convicts, outgrew it very quickly, but the EBJD has hit about 3" TL and stayed there . . . he seems to like it, tho' . . .

ebjd are slow growers just keep the water changes up and keep him fed he should do fine just dont put anything with him theyll pick on him ...

yeah should be fine just make sure to keep your nitrates as low as possible, make sure he doesnt have internal parasites and feed 2-3x daily and he will grow well

I've been keeping my ebjd in a small tank untill it's large enough not to be eaten by my oscars. It's now time to introduce it to the O's.
I've read that a fish that is in a tank that is too small will grow more slowly because fish give off hormones into the water and if there is not enough water then the hormones will be more concentrated and slow the fishes growth. So frequent water changes should delute the hormone concentration. However I'm not sure what fishes this concept applies to. Perhaps it matters less with cichlids. I don't know.

No it should be ok till its 3".. lots of water changes though

does he have parasites? even an ebjd should grow faster than that if all conditions are good
