EBJD Tank Mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
one food that my EBJD really loves is artemia shrimp (actually, all my cichlids love 'em) . . . never fails to get him eating . . .

Well I decided to get him another ebjd from the same tank. So now I have 2 of them. :P

I figured the eating thing out. He was eating. Just not in front of me. :( if I stand in the back of the room. They will both eat. They don't hide when I am there. They just won't eat. :P

It is not abnormal for the fish to not want to eat in front of me, is it?
I just assume that it is normal for them to be a little uncomfortable for them yet and keep feeding them normally.

2 reasons he/she is probably not eating... 1.) A new tank environment and 2.) The type of food. Once he/she gets settled in, it'll eat.

Eventually it will get hungry as well and eat just about whatever you give it, just stick to your guns.

In a 125 gallon I have 8 Electric Blue's and 10 Blue Gene dempseys. On a daily basis I feed mine Hilkari Marine A w/ spirulina, Spectrum flakes/pellets and a vegetable flake. Occasionally I will give them beefheart and bloodworms.

Do a search on some of my posts and another member here named nc_nutcase

You'll find aloth of recent discussion from us on raising our EB's. More then I care to type about right now ;)

Good Luck with your EB's and let see some pics!

The fish have decided to start eatting in front of me... it took a change from beefheart/flakes to brine shrimp(frozen), but they definitely eat(like pigs mind you) in front of me :D

these are my 2 ebjds. the one that is actually a decent picture is the healthier of the two.. and probably about a half inch larger.

What is everyones opinion on lunar light LEDs? I kind of want to get some so I can actually see my pleco once in a while. He loves chilling behind the rocks... all the time >_<

I am not sure if its an issue at this point or not... but it came to his first feeding(around 24 hours after he was introduced to the tank). And he just watched all the food fall to the ground. I saw him kind of look at it a little bit, but he seemed uninterested. Is there something that the EBJDs just love? Or is that more of a fish by fish basis? I'd like to get him some beef heart or other frozen protein packed food, but if he's not going to like that either then I am stumped :-(
vary the diet a lot of people use Hikari. With my con I use staple, gold, and started using market shrimp and crab, also every once in a blue moon I'll feed blood worms.
