EBJD too Small To Reproduce?

mine's about 2.5-3" right now; when his convict girlfriend laid eggs, I'm not sure he did much of anything . . . either way, they all turned white
maybe its just me, but your regular JD looks like a male. Maybe a better pic will help. Your EBJD looks male too, but could be a female too. Just assuming....
My EBJD male bred with my female reg JD at 2.5inches. They can breed at a small age. Some say its a good thing, some dont.

I wasn't aware the males laid eggs.
I always thought the females did
