If they breed with other cichlids, why are they infertile? Or is that just how it always is? Isn't there a term for this?

A dog may breed with a cat but you wont get any offspring from it. GT's are too distantly related from JD to hybridize.
I told you that gt was female but the last time you posted I didnt say much because everyone ewas saying male.... I guess I was right when I told you the shape was too off.... anyways back to the topic the eggs wont hatch because GT's can't hybridize outside their genus.....
PLEASE for the sake of those researching the blue gene in EBJD, please try to count the eggs. I know...crazy request but an estimate will work. Then if they hatch fry counts. These numbers matter. But only if someone breeds the offspring.
Cichlids can breed outside of there genus. I have bred a managuense and convict and raised the fry. But the fry usually turn out to be mostly if not all infertile, like blood parrots. Many species of cichlids around the world are actually hybrids of others.

Green terrors are some of the few that can't hybridize outside their genus... for example they can hybridize with stalsbergi but they can;t breed with jd's or even other south americans like oscars....I agree. Cichlids can breed outside there genus. But South Americans just cant breed with Central Americans(There are exceptions though)
