I have been working on planting my tank for a while... It is getting there but not where I want it. There is plenty of cover in my tank so hopefully the bigger guys won't bother him. I will get a few more smaller fish too so he doesn't get bothered. How long can I expect it to take him to get 3"?[/QUOTE]
Maybe 4 months...

What kind of tank mates will your EBJD be with at this size?

It will be with a rainbow cichlid, sajica, inca stone fish, three siamese algea eaters, and a bristlenose.

I'd be iffy on putting an EBJD with other Cichlids at that size. They generally grow considerably slower than most other fish. They get stressed out easy and under a certain size they're already prone to illness. Stress just adds to that. If I ever got smaller ones again I'd keep them in my Guppy/Molly/Platy tank till they got to a certain size. I tried keeping my small ones with Cichlids smaller than them, it wasn't long before they were beat to death.

On my way home with my new ebjd!

Hey eric! Do the rams that would be really cool

I picked up mine at about 1.5" from Petco of all places. I guess someone asked them to order one and never showed up to get it. They had a hard time sellin the little guy and i kept checking up on him. After about a month of sitting on him i talked the manager down 50% from $60.00 to $30.00. It has been 7 weeks now and he is a solid 2.75".
