EBJD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Had mine since he was half inch, got him in late December. No UV, but I made sure the bio filter was double or triple the requirement, For example I had him grow out in a 10 gallon tank with a bio filter made for a 50 gallon tank. two reason one, the filer was established, and two so it would provide the best possible filtration. I will not put him with the others in my big tank. Im not sure if he will get along or if they will harass him, since they are a weaker fish I don't want the stress. He is now almost 3 inches.

Also I am now in the process of getting a bigger tank for him and will transfer the same filter along with it. It is all about water condition and stress with an EBJD early on and IMO their whole life. Also no live food, to much of a risk for parasites. I have used recently some Beef heart.

Mine is about 8", and I don't have a UV sterilizer(not to say it would be harmful, just saying it might not be necessary). Feed veggies and not too many protein rich foods. I think their systems have trouble processing it. I have lost a few juvies, but I think when they hit about 3", you're mostly out of the woods.
nope mine got fin rot at 5".. :( So just keep up on the water changes. GL

So diet wise I should be treating him more like an african cichlid? With a high percentage of veggie based food in the diet? I'll probably get a uv sterilizer tonight if it helps that much.
