I have only owned one EBJD. Got him from The Wet Spot. Had him about a year then gave him to YankeeJack YankeeJack to add into his JD breeding. As far as I know hes still alive and breeding like mad.

I never did have any issues with him not eating or anything like that.

Seems almost inevitable for some of them to stop eating at some point. How did you treat? I did API General Cure-- ingredients: metro and prazi.

Fed mine NLS also, plus freeze dried mysis, which seemed to get them growing again after a spell not eating or growing.
Mine stopped eating a total of 3 times from 1-3 or 4 inches, each time I treated with prazipro then with metroplex soaked mysis shrimp. Seems like they could almost not resist a Mysis. After both of those treatments they returned to eating fine again.

The fish almost always has to be treated and gets sick very often. That shouldn't be the case in a healthy aquarium. Its definitely a genetically weak fish.
I don’t disagree with this at all, I just think they require impeccable water quality to thrive (kind of like a discus, which makes them difficult)

As I just posted mine got “sick” three times and I was doing 80-90% water changes weekly and a very understocked tank (so a healthy tank imo) I think if I done multiple water changes a week like one would do with discus that they probably wouldn’t have been sick at all.
