Hi, I've been trying to do exactly what you have been doing. I was wondering if u could give me some info on tank size, temp of water changes and frequency of water changes. The first spawn went exactly the way your first one did. All help is appreciated

Nice bro. I live in Australia...would have loved to get some. No one wants to really ship argh :(

and P.S. I was going to actually ask if "they were all EBJD" :P ... but saw a few pics of fry that convinced me! Send me some! :P

Anyone?

Are your fish regular JD's or BGJD's? There isn't really such thing as a "half ebjd". BGJD's are Dempsey's that carry the gene for "electric blue". And they are 100% necessary for breeding. If you can acquire 2 unrelated BGJD's your set! If not, your in for quite a project.

Thanks mate! (Yeah...I'm fluent in "down-under!"). I haven't had a spawn in awhile(other than the little human one that has halted my fish hobby!) But now that I'm getting back into it, when I get some more maybe I can give an attempt at sending you some!

I don't exactly know what type of jd they are. Is there anyway to tell?

The only way to find out is to breed them. If you end up with half a batch of ebjd's they're both bgjd. If you end up with all regular jd's one or both are regular jd's. There is no way to look at a jack and be able to tell if it's a bgjd or not.

Nice fish and pics. I wish there was a sticky talking a little bit more about blue jacks and some of the issues others are having in breeding so that we can compare notes. I am having issues with deformities from many lines I have been getting from dealers through the internet.
