I have both the older Ebo-Jager (original) and the Jager (manufactured after being bought out by Eheim) and both say "do not immerse beyond water line".

Both have been immersed since I got them (Ebo-Jager over 8 years, Jager over 2 years) and have had no problems.

Sink it!
