That article states that Liberian authorities may prosecute him for lying about his Ebola status when leaving the country.
 
Well...

Suppose you are in Liberia and have family/connections etc to Europe or US, and you know you were exposed to or have some signs of the disease...

Would you wait in Liberia in their condition...or buy a plane ticket, fool the questioners and maybe take some fever reducers and go to US/Euorpe where the supportive care is much better...

Sure they will prosecute you; but probably by that time, you are either dead or be cured by a first rate medical system...

If the choice is for you or your family, what would you choose Pacu Mom?
 
It appears he did the same thing that Patrick Sawyer did--he lied to get out of Liberia. He managed to infect and kill seven people in Nigeria. As far as Liberian authorities prosecuting him--it's probably window dressing--they let him out of their country.

Hello; I understand that you are using the hypothetical case and making some assumptions about motivations. That being; feeling exposed he is desperate and makes it to a "world class" health care facility to have a better chance of survival. A "better to ask forgiveness than permission" tactic.

If so, the plan has not worked so well from the survival angle. To best survive the infection a person’s body needs help in terms of replacing lost fluids and getting other such symptomatic treatments support until the body fights off the virus. That he was sent away from the emergency room and was without such supplemental treatment for two to three days likely means he was much worse off when finally admitted to the hospital.

Another implication of this hypothetical action is the consequence to others including his family in the USA. If he truly considered himself infected, then he appears to not care how many others he risked exposing to the virus.
 
The guy was vomiting before the ambulance took him back to the hospital. They used the ambulance for two more days. They let him go home the first time he went to the ER because they didn't deem him that ill. My average ER visits have ranged from 3 to 7 hours or more. I wonder how long Mr. Ebola waited in the ER waiting room waiting to be triaged, and then waiting for an ER room.
