Eco Bio Block

How can nitrifying bacteria live dry??? We all know when we let our filters dry out, all our bacteria dies. I am very wary of a product that advertises less water changes needed. Nitrates are not the only toxin we remove with WC--just one of the few we can test for. There are many other waste products removed. I'll stick with my weekly WC thank you!

So it's just another form of Algone?

Some companies encapsulate the bacteria so when water is added it is activated (per say). Kind of a suspended animation. Some say it's good for up to 10 yrs.

I'm not giving up my W/C's either (yet).

post deleted eh? ohwell i guess i don't want to spark anything.

i don't know much besides whats already been posted, but i do know that from a few asian based fish keepers that have all the latest filter technology on their tank, that these bio-blocks are not in use in aquariums over there, and they get EVERYTHING first. i'm assuming that if these really were what they are being sold as then most high end fish keepers in those asian countries would have them....from what i'm seeing none of them have them running in their tanks.

form your own opinions, but i for one will not be using one of these

Just to clarify your comments on EcoBio-Block. Ebb was originally developed and patented in Japan to use a natural process to revitalize polluted rivers, canals, ponds and ocean, it has been modified for use in home aquarium tanks and ponds. Effective bacteria are housed together with nutrients in a live and propagable state. EcoBio-Block releases millions of grass bacillus bacteria (an extremely vigorous bacteria called bacillus subtilis natto), which multiply every half hour and degrade ammonia into nitrite, then nitrate, which is absorbed by plants and/or by microbes (which occur in gravel in established tanks). Microbes change the nitrates into nitrogen gas, which then dissipates, for a cleaner, healthier and safer aquatic environment. This dramatically reduces the need for water changes and fish can then live in the same, clear water for years. EcoBio-Block is effective in fresh or salt water and is safe for even delicate fish. If you would like a link, please see: www.onedersave.com.
Check out the "in-house" tank test...This stuff is so good it will let plants like Amazon swords morph into other plants that like poor water conditions better!:ROFL::ROFL:

Using Japan for a testimonial doesn't rate very high since they also promote rhinoceros's horn, Tiger bones (and other parts) and shark fin soup for... ah, ...well ...unscientifically documented results.

Just a note on testing parameters...Don't change them or the test results are bogus!

Notice that on any of the sites there are no water quality tests done by an underwriters lab. or any traceable souce. No University tests.

How about free samples, I'd be willing to set up a tank with some larger messy natives (not small guppies) and test it honestly under OUR real life conditions (and post the results).

Don't get me wrong, I want for something like this to REALLY work. A resin, bacteria or even a green glowing meteorite fragment...I don't care as long as it is good for the fish and good for the environment.

I actually live in Japan, and know the president of the company that manufactures the Eco Bio-Block, as well as the president of the distributer in Japan and Asia too.

It isn't just pumice and snake oil...as some have been saying but is made from natto and concrete. The company that make this has patent in several coutries, and already supplies local governments in Japan, Malaysia and India for use in public waterways...if it was Snake oil, then surely these people would have noticed when testing???

Natto for those of you who don't know, is primarily a food stuff in Japan made from fermented Soya Beans. Eco Bio-Block uses several varieties of these fermented soya beans to produce the overall effects shown when using the product.

I represent Eco Bio-Block in Europe, we are currently looking for agents for sale of Eco-Bio Block in all of Europe apart from Scandanavia, (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland), where I already have agents.

If you have any questions about the block, please feel free to contact me at paul at koibito-japan.com I have an information .pdf that I would be more than willing to send to anyone who is interested...

I will try to be as unbiased as possible when helping with your questions...

Here is link to a supplier in Japan (Sales in Japan only) --> http://www.ecobio-block.com/
Here is a link to the manufacturer Koyoh ---> http://koyoh.jp/

Paul.
