Eco-complete vs Flourite

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like both just about equally. Flourite does cloud on the beginning, which is a bit of a drawback, but Eco complete has metal in it that gets stuck to your magnetic algae scraper. This could potentially scratch your glass if you don't get it all off.
Personally I like the Eco better than the black flourite but the brown flourite is the most natural looking to me.

The bigger issue is the composition of the materials. Seachem's product will produce better growth, particularly in red plants (with the brown or red forms) than eco's products. Eco completes growth will slow after only a year and a half, where as Seachem's will usually take between 3 and 4 years depending on the type you use. It is not a good way to compare substrates based on how cloudy the water is, but rather the actual growth rates achieved.

It happens far more often than you think. I have seen many cloudy bags come through my shop, it isn't every month, but at least 10% will come in with cloudy water.

plants become up rooted easier in the eco complete but the black contrast is nice.
