Economical Heater/Chiller

Dan, you've given me several great ideas to think about. I had a 90 in my garage over the past fall with a 200w heater. It kept up but I'm wondering at what cost. I guess it's time to crunch some numbers. I like the insulation idea.

You also gave me an idea that would probably eliminate the need for a chiller. I only have one small south facing window. I think putting some insulation or at least some radiant film on it may reduce my heat gain enough that I could run an exhaust fan out of the ceiling to keep the temps down. It's usually at leat 10* cooler in the garage with the door closed that the outside ambiant temp, so I may only have a problem on a handfull of days a simple exhaust may be just enough to cover this.

I forgot to mention that I do have an attic exhaust fan in the space above the garage, this in itself probably lowered temps by 5 degrees or so. I think it was around $65.00 at Home Depot.

If you are going the fridge route still to cool it, make sure to use copper due to it's conductivity.
