Hey guys(I hope this is the right place to post),
I wanna edit this pic of my Polypterus where only the silhouette or just the Poly without the background can be taken. Can someone tell me how to do it? Or can someone do it for me if it’s not that troublesome?

Thanks

Hendre Hendre or kno4te kno4te can you guys help me?

This isn’t the forum for editing pics. I can move it.

Doing the silhouette effect is a trick done with digital cameras, using a flash to illuminate the middle of the tank without catching the background, which does not have enough light for the shot. The fish has to be in the right spot without any objects to get the effect. It can't easily be edited in.

Here are some examples, taken on a Canon EOS 7D with a 50mm lens

Nothing in the background = just black

Now you can see some elements

And close to the bottom you can see everything as the cone of light from the flashes widens18_07_2020-26.JPG

Thanks. So to take exactly like in the first photo did you fully off the lights and use only camera flash?

I keep the lights on, the camera needs something to focus. I have an external flash above the tank, and I bounce the camera flash off the ceiling to trigger it. No flashes directly against the glass

So for an external flash I could keep the tank light on top switched in right? And what do you mean “the camera flash off the ceiling to trigger it”?
