Educating MFK on the Silver Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wheres the part where they jump out and die all the time because 90% of people who keep them don't understand THEY NEED SPACE?

I am sorry, I love this majestic fish and all, but its another one of those cases where so many die each year due to ignorance and the 'must have' factor.

Sorry to be negative, it's just my opinion. We export 10,000 silvers a year to asia, and I can only imagine where 99,950 of them end up.. on the floor. Can't argue with supply and demand, though!

I wish tanks with bigger footprints were more reasonable and easily obtainable so more people could have the opportunity to give these beautiful fish a long happy life.

I recently bought a silver and at time of purchase he was 4 in. Now he's about 7 in. and I want to know what to do to help him reach health and size potetial. I am an avid hobbyist, yet somewhat confused about certain things about fish-keeping. The tips on this thread will help extensively. I made the mistake of pairing a needle-nose gar with my silver and the gar will not eat anything but feeders. When the gar is feed the silver grabs a decent amount of the feeders, so my silver eats feeders if I like it or not. Any Suggestions?
