Finish school, it opens many opportunities. If you really want to run a business researching fish, selling fish, etc, you need to know business strategies, accounting, gene research, depends what you want to do.

Be cool, stay in school. Sounds *** but it's true. Also, pick a focus like Marine Bio so you can tailor your classes around it.

Right now, you are bored. Go talk to the guidance counselor and see if you can take some form of science/project that involves fish, I guarantee you do well.

Go to school, get your degree and make lots of money. I have a degree in CSC and am doing pretty well. I am taking another class so that I can be hired to do temp work that pays $40+ an hour. If you want to make lots of money choose wisely. Other wise pick the field you enjoy most and stick with it.

It also helps you develop your critical thinking skills.

I'm surprised you're not in college now!! I met a 16 year old in one of my classes and he said the city paid for his classes. when he's done with high school he'll have 2 years of college classes out of the way. Maybe you can do the same for the spring semester. you never know!! either way you'll save yourself the trouble of taking basic math courses/entry level writing courses and such. My g/f received 9 credits for 3 classes because she was in honors. I wish I cared more in high school.
Good luck and no hard feelings.

You definitely need to finish up school. My schooling does pay off for my job. I took electrical engineering in university, and now I am a software engineer. I definitely learned a lot, but the most important thing that I learned is problem solving and just how to learn more effectively. I know that sounds weird but it's definitely true. In my job I am learning new things all the time, and encountering new things all the time. It definitely pays off. I'm only 25, but in just 2 years I've been promoted and have had people working for me. It's all about what you do once you get into your career.

That all being said, your grades and your degree is really only good for one thing career wise, and that is getting your first job. After you have that all your next jobs will look at is your previous experience. Reviews from the last place you worked mean way more than what you got in your university classes. The only thing highschool grades are good for is getting into the university that you want.

I think the most important thing that you can get out of school is the ability to train your mind to learn, to problem solve, and to develop your work ethic. Make sure you have some fun though. Once you start working you will not have nearly the time you have now. Enjoy it!!!!

Well I am in my frist year of college and so far as being placed for education there, what classes you can skip and such, the grades and gpa count. I am not out of school so I have no clue but the way I look at it, it's all worth it in the end. I havent used more then half the stuffed I have learned now in college (except for math) it's always something new added on to most of the stuff thats prob. already drilled in your head. Then when you finished college all those grades and stuff they taught you was worth it becuase it has helped you remeber things, look at things in different ways, solve things and such. And a little tip if your going in to Marine Bio... Dont come to FL if you are going in that field.... There arnt any jobs for it left, after I figured that out I dropped my major and now I dont know what I am going to do. I dont wanna leave here. =(

You will not use all the education you get by a long shot but if you play your cards right and obtain a degree it will translate into respect, satisfaction and $$$ for you.

Yes, its all worth it.

Everything you are learning now will not all be used (thats impossible) but it will train your brain and discipline yourself (hope im not lecturing ya, im only 29). I was also a marine bio major, but now I have a job that I love and is never the same, I rarely wake up in the morning thinking I dont want to go to work (like so many in this world). I also know that at the end of the day the world is a better place because of me (unless its the weekend when I relax, drink, and party) :) . What am I?

A teacher, I may not make much but hey I make a difference! I hope I dont sound too full of myself :D

PM me is ya wanna chat more :D

I think Karma said it best. While you most likely won't put into practice everything you have learned in school, it does set you up for the discipline that you will need for other situations in life. Personally, I have great respect for people who want to continue their education
