i absoloutley love eels, but im cautios about putting one in my main tank, anyone know what species would be ok with my tank setup?? cheers

wat is your tank setup?

And which eels?

yeah those two questions are pretty important theres alot of fish that are called eels

tank setup is 180ltr juwel rio, fluval 305, 2X albino clawed toad, 1X paddletail newt, 3X yoyo, 4X algae eater, 2 X butterfly plec, 5 X flame tetra

any kind of eel. ive always wanted one, but never been sure wether they'd go in my tank

so that around 40 gallons right
wow that frog hasn't eaten any of your fish wow but try
spiny eel like
peacock eel
theres other spiny eels sorry i can't think of all there names
or
ropefish
polypterus senegalus but those two don't work that we'll with clawed frogs if they try to eat them but other wise they do fine
uhhh lets see if you made it brakish you could have dragon gobys

which did you have in mind any one in perticuler theres alot of fish that look like eels and non of those are true eels true eels are saltwater

i realy fabcied putting a european eal in there, eustus or something like that, i know they live quite happily in freshwater until they need to spawn, because i used to do a lot of eel fishing, i think that they might be too preadatory tho. i also want somrthing as a project ( i like growing fish) so something that starts small and gets a lot bigger would be great.
intending to up my tank to a 1000 ltr as soon as possible (funding issues) so eventual size should not be a problem

European and american eels can be quite predaceous and will probably cause problems in that tank, I have had a 30" one eat a 12" spiny eel.

Shame about the spiny, but the 30" euro sounds nice, ive had a look at some spiny eels, and tyre track look quite nice, plus theyre quite com,mon in fish shops round my area. any feeding tips?

What kind of spiny eel are you talking about, and whats your spiny eel's diet?
