is there somewhere online i could look for good info on eels? things like feeding, sizes, tankmates etc...? there seems to be alot of conflicting info out there.
not really shure, im setting up a 75g so i was thinking snowflake, but we will be moving within 6-10 months and then i planned on using my 100g 6x18x18 instead of the 75. would i be able to keep a larger eel in that tank? or maybe a snowflake and a zebra?
i think that the 6x18 footprint would be alot better for eels than 4x18, and this will mainly be an eel tank but i am an eel noob. i saw a dragon eel yesterday(not hawaiian) and that really caught my eye.
Liveaquaria.com has some good info. Feeding is mostly krill, shrimp, and other meaty items. Sizes most eels are between 2'-3' but some get bigger. There alot of tankmates just to name a few. Triggers, lions, puffers ect. You can find all the tankmates on liveaquaria.com also with the compatibility chart. Hope this helps once you are set on an eel people with experience with that eel can help you alot better.
sorry not here to help just currious what size tank a dragon moray needs. ( i am not getting one because i dont have the correct tank size by any means nor do i have the $$ ) just currious
Corvus, at www.**************.com, writes books on morays & also gives advice on them at WWM, as Marco. There is also OldManOfTheSea, who posts at AC, he might post here too.
I have a mexican dragon eel (2') and a yellow head eel (1.5') in my 120g tank, they seem to be getting along so far (though the smaller yellow head seems to be hiding a lot more than the dragon). I feed them every second day about 3 raw shrimps each and on other feeding days krill.
I also have a zebra eel (2') in my 200g mixed reef and he has been well behaved with the other fish and 2 cleaner shrimp so far. I'm not sure if the snails are too safe though.
ok, im pretty set on getting a snowflake and zebra, assuming they will get along, that is unless i see something else that catches my eye. realizing these are eels, and hide quite a bit, how active are these two species in general?
one last question, will i have a hard time getting them to accept market shrimp or other non-live foods?
