Brisbane, Australia
just went netting before, anyway had an eel and it slipped through the net. i would like to know what species it was so i can uy one or catch some more. best description is a fire orange belly and black top. and a pointy nose, this was caught in australi on the east coast in the northpine river in freshwater near brisbane.

no idea try to catch anouther and get a pic other then that it will be hard to tell you what species it is

did its nose look like this:

In aus i can't imagine it being a fire eel

Get back out there and do some majorly serious hunt for another. Interested in what this may be.

yes nose was like that and no not a fire eel. the hole belly was orange and the top half was black with some markings i only got a 20 sec glimpse and it was wrigling. and i was running in water trying not to slip on the sharp rocks and it was upside down most of the time

sweet eel

well,it probably is some species of spiny eel.

yeah it wasn't a spiny eel unless you were netting in asia

hmmm...then what could it be??If its not a spiny eel, maybe its another species of ee.could also be an escaped(or thrown away)pet.
