I'll tell that to my science teacher who's eel is 12 years old and has lived in freshwater his entire life.

It hasn't even lived half its life yet, when it dies soon you can break the news to her that she killed it.

just cause you have only been alive for 12 years, doesn't make that a long time out of 30. That's right, if it dies before 20 years old your science teacher should feel awful.

You science teacher sucks at science. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

A lot of brackish fish live just fine in fresh water. Obviously it has shortened his life significantly if he's 12 and still healthy.

What kind of tankmates? Spiney eels stay pretty small but they are shy. They aren't true eels but they look the part.

12 years in a tank seems pretty good to me and thier are tons of fish that i know of that live in salt, fresh, and brackish

That shows true immaturity my friend, this is like throwing a dog in a 2 by 2 pen and saying well man 5 years is pretty good, just because it seems like a long time to you now, doesnt mean keeping something in stressful conditions to its health is ok. With out predators the fish should live its natural lifespan, just because it can life a section of its life in these conditions does not mean you should exploit that.

Really would refrain from saying 12 years seems pretty good, you are showing a real disrespect for life and people on hear will take offense to this.
