If you got it in the States, it should be Anguilla rostrata. But, you said it was the European Eel, which would be Anguilla anguilla. Where did you get it, if I might ask? I want either species and I hope to get some in the near future. A. rostrata is pretty common in bait shops accross the U.S. from what I understand.

I have kept them both before. The American ones I got while I lived out in Arizona. The current one from a member here MFK I believe almost 3 years ago
