Eel Secret

Ok, people. Whats the secret on how to keep eels? Like I can never keep them alive or nothing. Is their anything special I should be doing? I have alot of fish in the tank but I do water changes once every 3-4 days.... Whats happening?

what kind of eel? maybe theyre brackish eels.

My room tempurature is about 75-80F.
Tank mates:
12 Tiger Barbs(Selling)
7 Skunk Loaches(Selling)
7 Silver Dollars
2 Kissing Fish
1 Green Terror
1 Green Severum
1 Banded Leporinus
1 Convict Cichlid(Selling)
AC 110(getting another)
Smooth gravel(epoxy coated)

It's the false eels I'm interested in. I had 3 peacocks and 2 died. This last one I'm not sure about. I saw this Tire Track at the LFS and I realy want it. It's 30$ thow and I don't want it to go to waste....

How many Gallons? Spiny eels should work fine, but more to come on the leporinus. How big is it?

The spiny eels like a sandy type substrate, make sure they don't get outcompeted for food.

I feed my eel while everybody else is asleep. The leporinus is only about 3 inches long and is scared of everything. Oh ya everyone lives in a 85G tank.

may be the GT? i have an 8" peacock eel that get beat up by my Ps. crabro. it hides all the time but somehow manages to get enough food. as soon as it's warm enough, the eel is going outside in the pond to be fattened up. This too is the first to ever live more than a week. I do have a ton of rock, sand and feed plenty. also, try buying bigger. All the others i have bought and failed in the past were much smaller. i bought this one at 6-7"
