Eel stung by stingray? Help

So I have a 16 inch fire eel with my 2 Motoro stingrays and they've been together
For over a year. Today my eel is being very weird and I think he's gunna die. He keeps having what seems like convulsions, on his side and upside down. Maybe when he was eating he accidentally bit a stingrays stinger??? Does that sound like what he would act like if he did? If so what should I do?

i think its very unlikley, ive kept eels with my rays for lots of years although i dont have one atm. i think its much more likley something else but it sounds like your gonna have to ride out the storm and hope for the best. but tbh, from the behaviour it doesnt sound good whatever's wrong with it

The stinger wouldn't be in his mouth if he just bit the stingrays tail by accident tho.

Well said. If the eel has mouthed/bitten the stinger then it will be easy to tell. The stinger will be white at the tip if this has happened.

If he was stung there would be some kind of hump or bump. Just hope he wasn't because my buddy had a mbu puffer that was stung by ray. RIP. I know that's bad news but fish are resilliant. What I was talking about was only one case. Just expect worse and hope for best.

Well he died no I haven't checked parameters yet. I've been busy today. I did a water change like a week ago tho. I guess he wasn't stung tho because there is no mucous missing off the rays stingers. His belly was pretty bloated too before he died.

Sounds like it was possibly IP's, or some form of internal infection.. not uncommon in spineys.

Not saying he pulled stinger off but skin cover would be damaged if ray is responsible. If skin is still intact has nothing to do with ray
