Hi i have a 55 gallon tank that i want to put eels in, but was wondering what i can put in. I don't want to have to upgrade the tank so what eels i put in i would like to be able to live in the tank for life.

6 inches
there are other you would have to buy online for like 10 bucks but shipping would be like 80

ZIg zag eels (M.circumcinctus) also top out at about 10" and would be very appropriate for a 55.

If you have nicely hard, alkaline water and really tried, you might be able to pick up a tangyinikan spiny eel, M.elipsifer. These are great characters, and theoretically top out at 18", although I have never actually seen or heard of one quite that big. I suspect a real maximum of about 12"-15" is more realistic in an aquarium situation. That would be just fine in a 55G.

fire eels and tire track i would say anything that gets over 12 inches any fish's tank should be a least as wide as its body

I second zigzag eels since they have a lot more personality than peacocks. Mine is very social and hand feeds where as the 2 peacocks I've had in the past I've never seen since they were buried in the gravel.

Tankmates should be not too aggressive. Too many options to list IMO

+1 on this, I haven't seen my Peacock since the day I got it, and my ZZ begs for bloodworms on a daily basis.
