I would highly recommend not doing this anymore. If you need a light on during the night just get a moonlight.

Why do you think a lot of fish hide? My plecos will all move around when the lights are out. Outside of saltwater reef anemones and sponges no fish need aquarium lights. That is just for humans to see. Number two they can not close their eyes as we can. You would be better keeping the lights on for 8 hours and the rest of the time leave them off. Get a timer as was said!
damn i only leave my lights on for a cpl hours a day. Then again, im poor so I try to keep bills as low as possible.

Over a month I think there would have to be some sort of impact. Like the bloke on the other page said, why do you want to have lights on all night when I assume, you are sleeping? That just makes no sense.
Turn it off and have them on from 5pm-11pm or something when you get in from work on the timer.
