Efficient Heating?

I insulated my tanks with 1 1/2" foam from Home Depot. I kept 30 gallon tanks heated with 50 watt heaters. That summer when it was over 100 degrees for a few days tanks stayed cool to.
 
I would probably go for lids first to see what you have as far as heating efficiency increases. After lids, if you do not get enough of an efficiency increase or would just like more, then I would look at insulating the tanks and plumbing. With a central system I imagine there would be copius amounts of plumbing, yes? Insulating that would probably deal with a lot of heat loss.
