Will I be able to safely place an egg crate under an artificial rock? I am afraid the egg crate might be heavy, but again I've never seen one in-person so don't know how heavy they are..

I added alot of water to my tank and when my turtle rests on his rock, he can't breathe by just sticking his neck out of the water..instead he has to stand up and breathe during the middle of the night..
I want to get an egg crate to give the rock a "boost" closer to the water surface.(I want the water high)

But are there any egg crate that are 7" by 16"?
and maybe 4" high?

I didn't want the egg crate to be too high because Cola sometimes flips over her rock and if that falls off a tall egg crate..the tank bottom could possible shatter..
UNLESS I get like a barrier on the egg crate to prevent the rock from moving...is this possible?

well anyways this is what I want it to be like..

Just build the tank up with flat rocks. Like, stack them up and silicone them together for stabitily. You should have a platform for your turtle anyway.

egg crate is a flat sheet about 2' by 4'...something like that and you can cut it to shape. It's relitivle thin plastic and dosn't weigh very much at all. A lot of people like to use it on the bottom of thier tanks to protect the glass from rocks.

hmm..it seems familiar..

do they have really fat ones?(in heigth)
or will I be able to stack a couple to "boost" up my artificial rock?

No fat one's sorry...if you stack several pieces you'll have to attach then to each other somehow.

Ok, I guess I'll get one of those locing plastic stringy things..

hey, what should I cut the eggcrate with? I don't want any sharp or roigh edges that can scrape my turtle.
i'm also thinking of putting one on the tank floor(to absorb shock if Cola tips over the rock) but will a turtle's leg get stuck in one?

Why do you want to use eggcrate? Why don't you just stack some rocks up like Mystix said, it'd be a lot easier...
